New year, new brand identity

2023 is a busy year with several key milestones for us here at Wadworth.

Amongst other things, our iconic real ale 6X turns 100 on December 5th which we’re celebrating all year round and we’re moving into a new brewery later this year.

The move to the new site has given us the opportunity to rejuvenate Wadworth’s brand identity and set ourselves up for the next chapter in this historic brewery’s future.

Wadworth is clear on who it is and what it’s passionate about

Wadworth is an independent family regional brewer and pub company, established in 1875 and passionate about ‘real brewing, real pubs, real people’

  • Real Brewing:We produce a range of award-winning core and special edition beers in cask and small pack formats.
  • Real Pubs:We have more than 150 pubs across the South and West of England.  19 are managed pubs and 132 are run by business partners in our tenanted pub division.
  • Real People:Our MD Toby Bartholomew is the 5th generation to run the business.

Wadworth is clear on its vision:

  • A family business with award-winning beers, well-run well-invested pubs, an engaged team and highly satisfied customers.

And its values:

  • We are a Community
  • We deliver Quality
  • We drive Performance
  • We are leaving a Legacy

What we haven’t been clear on is a strong brand identity to take us into 2023 and beyond…

Enlisting the expertise of branding agency Holman Group and ensuring a range of stakeholders were engaged with throughout the business, we’re delighted to share the new logo and proposition statement for Wadworth.

We’ve introduced a new serif font ensuring it conveys the heritage of our business as well as an edge of modernity for our future aspirations.

Blue has played an important role in the Wadworth brand identity over the years and will continue to be so but with a softening of the blue.

A broader colour palette will be used through brand communications going forward, including a nod to the four key ingredients in beer: water, hops, yeast and barley.

'Since 1875' is proudly displayed and a new proposition statement ‘Traditions worth holding on to’ has been introduced.

Wadworth has a wealth of traditions that are integral to its business and we are keen these are heroed and not lost in the transition to a new brewery.

We will continue to hand sign write our pub signs, have our shire horses pull the dray around town, brew our real ales, focus on great hospitality and hold aloft the importance of being real in everything that we do.

These things won’t change as we embark on the move to a new brewery and evolve our portfolio of beers to attract a wider market.

We have traditions but we’re not traditional, and we are looking forward to being around for another 150 years!
